Description
Embark on a 3-day, 2-night adventure between Foum Zguid, the dried-up Lake Iriki, and the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga. This tour invites you to live a unique experience: bivouacs in the middle of the desert, discovery of nomadic culture, and exploration of strikingly beautiful Saharan landscapes.
Circuit route
Day 1: Foum Zguid – Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi – Lake Iriki guest house
Depart early afternoon from Foum Zguid by 4x4 across the desert plains, stopping at a prehistoric fossil site. Arrive at the guesthouse located 60 km away, where you'll be welcomed with tea and watch the sunset over the desert. Enjoy a convivial dinner around the campfire, discussing nomadic life. Overnight at the guesthouse.
Day 2: Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi – Erg Chegaga
Breakfast outdoors, then visit the oasis of Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi to discover local agriculture and the history of the village. A typical lunch with fresh produce, then departure by 4x4 to Erg Chegaga, crossing the dried-up Lake Iriki and the first dunes lined with tamarisk trees. Upon arrival at the bivouac, a camel ride at sunset to admire the highest dunes in Morocco. Dinner around the fire or under the restaurant tent, followed by a musical evening. Night in large traditional tents.
Day 3: Erg Chegaga – Lake Iriki – Foum Zguid
Wake up early to watch the sunrise from the dunes, followed by a morning walk in the calm of the desert. Return by 4x4 to Foum Zguid, crossing the plains of Lake Iriki, with photo stops to immortalize the landscapes.
