Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – Taznakht – Foum Zguid – Erg Chigaga
Depart early in the morning from your hotel or riad in Marrakech toward the Atlas Mountains. After passing through Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpet craftsmanship, head to Foum Zguid, the gateway to the desert. You'll then reach the impressive dunes of Erg Chigaga. Settle into a traditional camp, enjoy dinner under the stars, and enjoy an evening of local music around the campfire. Enjoy a magical sunset over the dunes.
Day 2: Erg Chigaga – M'hamid El Ghizlane – Tamgroute – Zagora
Wake up at sunrise for a camel ride and admire the colors of the desert. After breakfast, drive to M'hamid El Ghizlane, stopping at a nomadic family's home and discovering a sacred oasis. Lunch in M'hamid, then head to Tamgroute to visit its Koranic school and kasbah. Arrive in Zagora at the end of the day and spend the night in a comfortable riad.
Day 3: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, depart for Ouarzazate to discover the Taourirt Kasbah, then head to the famous Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will have lunch. Cross the High Atlas Mountains to return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
